Adoptable Dogs

When you adopt a dog from Chain of Hope, you are giving a dog a second chance at life. We bring in some of the worse neglect and abuse cases in Kansas City, MO. You will be amazed at the transformation a dog goes through from suffering on a chain to now living in your home where they don’t have to worry about when their next meal will be. They will give you nothing but unconditional love.

We do charge an adoption fee since most of the cases we bring in require extensive medical needs. The adoption fee also helps keep our doors open so that we may continue on with our mission.

Chain of Hope’s adoption fees:

  • Puppies 1 and under – $250

  • Dogs between 1 and 10 – $200

  • Seniors 10 and up – $100

Greta is a pittie mix around 10 months old. She was found as a stray on the side of the road, at night, sick with parvo. She beat it, though - she is one strong little girl! Greta is VERY shy around new people, especially men. But once she warms up to you, then you are friends for good! Greta LOVES playing with the other dogs in her foster home. She can play hard, but settle down and cuddle, too. She is looking for a home that understands she is shy in the beginning. Another dog really helps bring her out of her shell. Therefore, a home with another dog and a fenced yard to play in is a must to make her feel right at home! A fenced yard, another playful dog, and a female adult human in the home are all required for Greta's forever home. She has been adopted and returned once due to her extreme fear of men. She has been in an experienced foster home for nearly three months now. She still runs from her foster dad sometimes. Greta needs an experienced owner with time and patience to continue working on building her confidence. If you have questions or would like to speak with Greta's foster mom, please email your contact info to cohkcvolunteer@gmail.com and she will give you a call. Thanks! $250 Adoption fee includes spay, dewormer, vaccinations, rabies tag, microchip, heartworm test and heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Hi, I'm Divet and I am the cutest one-eyed girl you will ever meet. I came to Chain of Hope as an owner surrender due to a very bulged eye. Turns out the eye was dead and I was blind in it, so to prevent any discomfort, Chain of Hope helped me get it removed. Boy, that was a great day! I am completely healed and I don't let having one eye hold me down. I love to play with my foster doggy siblings, running around the yard or lazy playing on our backs. I am the sweetest, most cuddly girl, but for a 4 year old, I have a lot of energy. I love to cuddle in close and fall right to sleep, but I need a yard with a 6ft fence (as I can jump a 4ft) and preferably a doggy friend to play with. While I am in a foster home, I am learning some home obedience and how to be a good girl. I would love a family that would teach me more. I do really well with other dogs and I think other dogs help me get acclimated. Also, while I love kids, I do prefer kids that are over 6 years old and have been around dogs before, just because I am a good sized dog and get the zoomies sometimes. If you're interested in meeting Divet, please submit an adoption application on Chain of Hope's website: www.chainofhopekc.org/adoptable-dogs/ Adoption fee includes spay, vaccinations, microchip, and one month of flea/tick/heartworm prevention. ** Requires a 6ft fence** * Good with children, dogs and cats * Currently in a foster home * Local Adoptions Only Kansas City *

Hi, I'm Brody. I am one happy young boy, with a lot of energy. I was kept on a short chain for the beginning of my life, so once I got to Chain of Hope, I was very excited to run around and play. I am a beautiful all white, with just a few spots on my ear, which makes me probably one of the handsome guys out there. I am great with other dogs and love to play. I was heart worm positive but I have gone through treatment and feel much better thanks to Chain of Hope. If you have another dog looking for a friend and you've got extra space to lay my head, let my people know! I am currently in a foster home to help me transition from the shelter life to home life. I want to be prepared so when its my time to be adopted, I will make my forever family proud. I am a gooooood boy. I have had many BF at Chain of Hope that have come and gone. It's my turn. Is your life feeling a little dull? Do you feel like just another Joe Shmoe in life? Do you need a little something more in your life? How about 70lbs more? Brodie will make you feel like the most loved and important person in the whole world and when he's not being super cute staring into your soul with his deep, dark eyes, he will have you rolling on the floor rolling with his doofy antics. Brodie spent his formative days on a short chain, neglected and bored. During his time in foster he's gotten to experience things like being inside a house, cuddling in a bed, regular feedings, and being showered with love, attention, and toys. He is very playful and would be good with a medium to large dog that can hang. He would be a good running partner and has picked up walking on a leash quite nicely. His foster mom and him went to 1 obedience class and he is now pretty good at "come" and #1 at "sit"! He's 99% house broken with only an occasional accident due to foster parents not reading his signs. He was kenneled trained at COH but hasn't been recently because foster mom works from home, he's done great being left out for short trips. He has moments of high energy but then he just sleeps the rest of the day. He is the most grateful dog about everything and it's been heartwarming to watch him experience new things each day. He would probably lose his mind with joy at a dog park. He's between 1 and 2 years and still eager to learn how to be the best boy ever! I am currently in a foster home with other dogs and doing great! I like children but the older ones. If you are interested in meeting me, please visit www.chainofhopekc.org and fill out an adoption application. Once received someone from our team will be right with you. **Local Adoption Only - Kansas City Area** Adoption fee includes deworming, all vaccinations, rabies tag, micro-chip, spay/neuter, heart worm test, flea & tick prevention, and heart worm prevention.

Hi I am Bruiser "AKA Ricky Bobby" because I am a pitbull that likes to go fast and play hard. I have been to many dog parks and love them all--it is my sweet spot and I feel like I have gone to heaven when I go, because I like to play with every pup! I get along with everyone especially if they like to chase me. Sometimes my foster mom has to make me take breaks for I will go and go. I have to reminder myself that not every dog likes to play as hard as me! Ever seen a pitbull listen with tilted head and raised ears of what? Why? Well I am a pro at it, but I am just trying to understand. I walk well on a lease and only pull or get excited when I see other dogs and want to meet them. I have been in my foster home for over a month and havent shown any sign of aggressive behavior. My favorites things are being outdoors. I love to swim, and I can even paddle board! New places and car rides are a close 2nd though. Also, do you disc golf? I understand being behind the disc already and get better at learning the rules. I don't really bark unless you need to go somewhere without me, but then I tend to stop when I realize I can relax in my kennel while you are gone. I tend to have FOMO but I relax more and more everytime you come back to love me again! I play hard, so of course, I rest hard. I will cuddle on the couch or in bed, and I only snore a bit! Overall, I do well being the only pup with a lot of attention or a similar pup in the house with great energy to play with. I am nice around my kitty's but foster mom reminds me they don't play like I do. We get kisses when I relax around them. I will create a happy home for someone with high energy and is active. I promise to give tons of kisses and love to the perfect family who gives me time and wants a companion. **Local Adoption Only - Kansas City Area** Adoption fee includes deworming, all vaccinations, rabies tag, micro-chip, spay/neuter, heart worm test, flea & tick prevention, and heart worm prevention.

Hi, I'm Emma and I'm a sweet, senior Chi-weenie looking for a new home. My previous owner passed away, so me, and my two brothers (Oscar and Colby), came to Chain of Hope. I am about 11-12 years old and around 25 lbs. If you are looking for an older, sweet, and affectionate girl to give lots of love, I may be the perfect one for you! Emma is a gentle, well-behaved girl. She is housebroken and a good watchdog. She is loving but not needy and shows no signs of jealousy toward her foster sister. She is an excellent companion; if you have other things to do than be with her she’s quick to take the hint and that’s fine with her. She doesn’t seem old at all! No destructive behavior. A very easy and loving girl for sometime adopt. Great dog in every way. Emma is currently in a foster home with another dog and doing great! Hi, I'm Wheelie. I'm a gorgeous blue pitty that is so loving and fun! I came to Chain of Hope because my dad was going through some rough times. I was his right hand man, but he knew I needed better, so he called his friends at Chain of Hope and they let me come here. I have an awesome room mate named Archie and we love to play - so I would do great with other dogs and cats don't bother me either. I love to play fetch and get love from all the volunteers. I am a big lover that is looking to be someone's sidekick. I love to sit next to my people and get lots of rubs, and I would be the perfect companion for someone wanting a good boy! I am heartworm positive, so I will need to go through treatment soon, but I know I can handle it. I've got such a positive attitude, I'm not worried at all.

Are you looking for a low rider? A big boy that sits low? Well, I'm Archie and I'm a short guy, with a big heart! I came to Chain of Hope with my ears looking pretty bad. Flies kept eating at my ears and it was super uncomfortable, but they are healing up nicely with all the love and medicine I am getting at Chain of Hope. I am a sweet boy that loves to play with my roommate, Wheelie, and hang out outside. I also love to give (and get) tons of lovins'. When a volunteer sits on the floor with me, I love to try and squeeze on their laps. I mean, I can kind of fit. I am great with other dogs, but cats are kind of suspicious to me, so I am a little too interested in them. If you're looking for a new man in your life, look at me! I'm unbelievably cute and a sweetheart! I am heartworm positive and will be getting treatment soon. Its a rough treatment, but I know I can handle it! If you are interested in meeting me, please visit www.chainofhopekc.org and fill out an adoption application. Hi, I'm Waylon. I am a beautiful, senior pit mix that is the most chill guy around! Chain of Hope rescued me about a year ago and I was adopted, but now I am back due to no fault of my own. My owner could no longer take care of me, so luckily I got to go back to my old foster home and wait for a new home. I am a chill older man, but have a goofy side that will keep you laughing. I have barely any teeth, but I don't let that slow me down when it comes to tennis balls. I am OBSESSED with tennis balls. I love to carry them in my mouth all around the house. When I don't have a tennis ball in my mouth, I am taking a snooze. I love to cuddle up on the couch and take a good nap... or two. If you are looking for a handsome, chill guy, to make you laugh and feel so loved... I'm definitely your guy! Hi, I'm Moby! I'm a sweet, playful boy that is looking for a new home. My first momma adopted me from Chain of Hope in 2017/2018 and gave me a loving and great home. Unfortunately, she was no longer able to take care of me and my brother, so Chain of Hope allowed us to come back. To make me more comfortable, I got to go back to my old foster home! My foster home has a young child and kitty and doggy friends, including a HUGE Great Dane, that I love to play with! I love everyone and everything. I do need a little refresh on some obedience, but I will learn quickly. I love to play rough with toys, but I know the difference between toys and furniture, so no destroying furniture here! I am also crate trained, but don't necessarily need to be in a crate. One thing I do need in my new home is a secure backyard. I can get out and will take a joy run around the neighborhood. Therefore a good fence with no holes is a must for me.

Chain of Hope was contacted about a month ago about people that had gotten a new dog. It was chained to the tree in the front yard most of the time. It did come in at night in the beginning and the kids would be outside playing with him. It was a young rottie mix, only about a yr. old. When we first helped these people, we gave them a tie-out cable and some food. The neighbor was complaining that the dog was left out tied to the tree in the front yard, more and more. It always knocked over it’s water and it was hot out, so he'd be all day day with no water. It still had no shelter. I told the neighbor to get an old tire laying around and I would bring a bucket over. If they would set his water bucket inside the tire, he could not knock it over as easily. The neighbor found a tire and I took over a bucket for her to take over to them. We had not spoken with the parents yet. They were Hispanic and did not speak very much English, the neighbor told me. Most of these supplies and things were being taken over by the neighbor and she was working with the kids, trying to show them how to take better care of him. Well, you can guess what happened! The newness wore off and eventually the dog was tied to a tree in the back yard. The neighbor called me and said that now he was on something very short and didn’t have much room. I asked her where the tie-out was that I had given them and she said that they had wrapped it all around the tree and only given him a few feet. This was going from bad to worse. The neighbor and I could see a wire crate on the back porch and she told me that if the dog wasn’t tied to the tree, he was in that crate on the back porch. This was so sad. This young, energetic boy was now getting no attention and his life was tied to a tree or shut in a crate on the porch. I told the neighbor it was time for a call to animal control. These people needed leaned on a little and needed to step it up or the dog needed to be somewhere else. The neighbor called it in and animal control went over. They basically warned the people about the dog not having water, not being on a long enough cable, not having a rabies and city license, and having no shelter. The neighbor told me that these were all warnings and no citations were given. Pretty disappointing with no citations, but their visit worked! A couple of nights later, the man of the house walked over to the neighbor’s house and asked her to call Chain of Hope to come and get his dog. He said he didn’t want it anymore. Thank God! She called me that night and I headed over the next morning to get him. The father was outside, waiting for me. It was pouring rain. We could converse a little bit. He signed my relinquishment form and said he’d go get the dog. I was walking behind him and asked him if he needed a leash and he said no. I thought he was going to walk him out on his cable or something, but since it was pouring rain, he got him out of the crate on the porch and just scruffed his fur to walk him out to me. He literally took a handful of skin and fur and was trying to guide Hoover out of the yard like that. Not good! I ran over with the leash and put it on him and we walked him to my car. Finally, this was over for this poor boy. Only a year old and heading to at least his 3rd place. I got him back to Chain of Hope and he settled in. Of course, after being so young and so confined, he has a ton of energy! A surprise here was that he was already neutered-we rarely see that in these situations. They’d only had him a couple of months so where ever he came from, he’d already been neutered. We named this handsome boy Hoover and he is a great dog! He loves to play-he’ll play all day. So if you have a dog that needs a friend to tire them out, Hoover’s your man!! He’s really just a big puppy! He also does great with cats! Many thanks to the neighbor who was consistently involved and trying. Lots of people put a problem like this in our lap, but she was actively trying to communicate, teach them and stay on top of the conditions of Hoover. She also was willing to call animal control, which got the ball rolling to get Hoover out of there. Without her, he wouldn’t be safe and loved at Chain of Hope right now! Hoover is neuter, UTD on vaccinations, heart worm negative and ready to find his forever home. He is currently in a foster home with other dogs and doing great. He is good with cats also.
